Problem description: Not enough cooling in one location
Comment: I have a 2 story home approximately 2100 sq ft. that is 6 years old, the house has one AC unit and originally handle the whole house until it is zoned for 2, one for each floor. Before zoning the upstairs was always 10-20 hotter than down stairs, after the zoning only half the upstairs gets cooled. The upper front half (2 unused spare bedrooms and bath) gets some air flow but the open back (family room) gets very little to nothing. I do feel some air from the vents in the family room but only when standing on a ladder. The air handler is in the front of the house so I’m guess why the front get all the air. I’m goal is to either boost air flow to the back part of the upstairs by adding a fan in-line with the duct work or block the air from the front unused spaces and hopefully get more air to the back. I’ve also added an audio/video closet last year in the upstairs area, the closet is normally 10 degrees hotter that the all the upstairs. I how this adds to the heat problem but is
